Joy was born into our rescue organization on 12/22/18; she is one of a total of seven in a litter of puppies.  We believe she is primarily a Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix puppy who is currently about 18 lbs and is expected at this point to get anywhere from 65 to 80 lbs full grown.  Joy is 100% puppy; she is learning what she can and cannot chew and is doing great with redirection.  She is crate trained and working on her housetraining.  She is a very sweet and personable pup who loves to play, but she also enjoys relaxing in her bed and hanging out with her people.  She is learning to be confident on a leash and will walk well with another dog.  Joy already has learned the "sit" command, is very smart, and loves to learn.  She is one of the more adventuresome and curious of the puppies in her litter.  She is good with older considerate children and other dogs; she is interested in cats, but doesn't chase them.  Joy will need a family who has the time and patience to help her through her puppy phase in life, who will provide her a minimum of basic training, who will continue to keep her socialized with other people and other pets, and who will give her a lifetime commitment of love and care as an immediate part of the family.

IMPORTANT:  Other than, of course, our usual focus on an applicant being THE BEST match between a pup and a family; please review the basic requirements for adoption of this particular litter of babies, since they are so young and will potentially be very large when full grown:

1)  MUST have another dog in the home who will interact positively with and continue to help guide the puppy.  Puppies this young need to continue learning canine observing/socializing behavior; this is in addition to, of course, committed guidance from the puppy's human family.

2)  We will not consider rental living situations for this litter of puppies.

3)  MUST have verifiable vet references of a current pet to include the usual:  history of vaccinations being kept current; also history of BOTH annual blood heartworm testing being kept current and history of the pet being kept on monthly heartworm prevention.

4)  We will not consider first-time pet owners for this litter. of puppies

5)  Puppy must be an incorporated and social member of the family; we absolutely will NOT consider an outside dog situation or as a working/farm dog.

All of our adoptable pups have an adoption fee of $250, regardless of our expenses, and it includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test for pups 8 months and older, heartworm treatment if tested positive, deworming and/or fecal test, parasite treatment if tested positive, microchipping, any immediate known health issues, and pups 4 months and older are kept current on monthly heartworm prevention.
