This is Scamp.. He was rescued from the Waco shelter. We believe he is a Hovawart mix.  The name of the Hovawart breed means "an estate guard dog," which is the original use for the breed.  The Hovawart is an outstanding watch dog and somewhat reserved towards strangers. They make excellent family dogs as they are totally devoted to their family. They are a working dog breed, and require a consistent and loving, yet strict training and meaningful activity throughout their lives.  Scamp is very lovable, and loyal (he stays by his foster mom's side.) He has a nice temperament, and is not aggressive. Scamp is good with other dogs, but has not been tested with cats. He will need to learn how to walk on a leash without pulling. He absolutely loves to play fetch and tug of war. We believe he would make a great family pet. Scamp weighs about 45-50 lbs. and is about 2 years old.

All of our adoptable pups have an adoption fee of $200, regardless of our expenses, and it includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test for pups 6 months and older, heartworm treatment if tested positive, deworming and/or fecal test, parasite treatment if tested positive, microchipping, any immediate known health issues, and pups 4 months and older are kept current on monthly heartworm prevention.
